Spotify is rolling out its AI-powered playlist creation tool to additional markets, including the U.S., Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand, after launching it initially in the U.K. and Australia for Premium users. This new feature, still in its beta phase, is available on both Android and iOS platforms.
The AI Playlist tool allows users to generate personalized playlists by simply typing out prompts. For example, typing in a phrase like “a romantic playlist for date night” will create a custom selection of tracks that fit the mood. Users can refine their playlists further by adding additional prompts or mixing genres, moods, artists, or even specific time periods.
Spotify’s AI tool also offers prompt suggestions, encouraging users to get creative by combining locations, animals, movie characters, colors, or even emojis to tailor their playlists to specific tastes. This adds an element of personalization, allowing users to have playlists that feel unique to their own preferences.
In a recent blog post, Spotify shared that the feature has been highly successful in the U.K. and Australia. Since its initial launch, users have created millions of playlists with the AI tool, often revisiting and tweaking them. The company views this as a positive sign that the AI-generated playlists are resonating with listeners and meeting their music discovery needs.
To access the AI Playlist tool, users can navigate to the “Your Library” tab and click the plus (+) button located at the top right corner of the screen. From there, they can select “AI Playlist” from the menu options alongside “Playlist” and “Blend.” Once the playlist is created, users can save it directly to their library for easy access.
This new feature offers Spotify users an engaging and fun way to build playlists that feel personalized without having to manually search for and select each song. With the feature now expanding to more countries, it’s expected that even more Premium users will start experimenting with AI-generated playlists that cater to their specific moods and musical preferences.
