Google is enhancing Gmail with a feature designed to make keeping track of online orders much easier. The platform has started rolling out a new “Purchases” tab, which gathers all shopping-related emails into one organized place. This includes details from both recent and past orders, helping users quickly find shipping confirmations and delivery updates without digging through their inbox.

The feature builds on Gmail’s existing package-tracking tools, which were first introduced in 2022. At that time, users gained the ability to view real-time delivery information directly within their inbox, rather than navigating to courier websites. With the new tab, Google is taking that convenience a step further by creating a central hub for purchases, ensuring that all relevant details are just a click away.

Gmail will continue to highlight packages scheduled to arrive within the next 24 hours at the top of the inbox. The new tab doesn’t replace that reminder but complements it by offering a broader overview of all shipments in progress.

Google believes the update will be especially valuable during the holiday season, when online shopping and shipping activity reach their peak. According to PwC’s 2025 holiday outlook, nearly 40% of planned gift spending is expected to occur between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday. For shoppers balancing multiple orders during that busy week, having a dedicated space to monitor deliveries could significantly reduce stress.

The rollout has already begun and will be available globally on both web and mobile for users with personal Google accounts.

Alongside this change, Google is also giving the Promotions category in Gmail a refresh. Users will soon be able to sort promotional emails by “most relevant,” ensuring that deals from preferred brands don’t get buried under less important offers. In addition, Gmail will gently remind users of time-sensitive sales or limited-time promotions so they won’t miss out.

These updates follow another recent improvement aimed at helping people keep their inboxes tidy: Gmail now provides a single view for all subscription-related emails and offers a quick way to unsubscribe from those they no longer wish to receive.

With these additions, Gmail is steadily evolving beyond a standard email platform. By integrating shopping and organizational tools directly into the inbox, Google is positioning Gmail as a smarter, more proactive assistant for everyday life.
