Spotify Introduces ‘Upcoming Releases’ Hub to Help Fans Track Future Albums

Spotify has unveiled a new feature designed to help music lovers stay ahead of album releases they might enjoy. Called “Upcoming Releases,” the newly launched hub offers personalized recommendations based on users’ listening habits and gives them a sneak peek into future music drops.

Accessible via the Search section in the “Browse all” category on the mobile app, the hub is built to improve the way users discover and engage with upcoming content. It doesn’t just suggest future albums—it also highlights the Top 10 most anticipated releases worldwide, measured by the number of pre-saves.

Listeners can take action directly from the hub by pre-saving upcoming albums, which adds the release to their library the moment it becomes available. Spotify will also send a push notification when the album drops. Additionally, each release has its own Countdown Page, where users can explore the album’s tracklist, listen to released singles, shop artist merchandise, and watch promotional clips.

This new feature aims to make music discovery more dynamic by focusing not only on current hits but also on what’s coming next. It’s a win for both fans and artists—listeners can effortlessly track albums they’re excited about, while musicians get increased visibility for their upcoming work and promotional content, including merch and tour dates.

To complement the new hub, Spotify is also launching Countdown Charts on its official social media accounts, including Instagram, TikTok, and X. These weekly charts will rank the ten most pre-saved upcoming albums on the platform globally, providing another layer of discovery and engagement. Spotify plans to refresh these rankings every Wednesday.

The launch of this hub follows several recent updates aimed at improving the app’s overall user experience. Earlier this month, Spotify introduced a redesigned interface, offering more control over queues, playback, and playlist management. These improvements are part of the company’s broader efforts to enhance personalization and usability across its platform.

In another notable change, Spotify now lets users purchase audiobooks directly in-app—an update made possible after a U.S. court ruling restricted Apple from charging commission on certain in-app purchases. This means users can now see prices and use external payment links more freely.

With the Upcoming Releases hub, Spotify is making it easier than ever to keep up with the music you love—before it even drops.
