Apple has rolled out the sixth developer beta of iOS 26, along with updates for iPadOS, watchOS, macOS, tvOS, and other platforms. As the expected September public release approaches, the changes are becoming more about fine-tuning than introducing headline features—but this latest build still packs a few notable updates.
One surprise is the addition of six new ringtones, all based on variations of the familiar “Reflection” tone. The standout so far appears to be “Dreamer,” which has been widely praised online for its catchy and energetic sound. Some early testers are even joking that it might tempt them to switch their iPhones out of silent mode.
The new beta also addresses a recent point of contention: the Camera app’s swipe gesture for changing modes. Earlier betas altered the direction of the swipe, frustrating long-time users who were accustomed to the previous behavior. Apple briefly offered a settings toggle in beta 5 that allowed users to revert to the “Classic Mode.” However, in beta 6, the company has removed that toggle entirely and restored the original swipe direction—ending the debate by defaulting to what users were most familiar with.
Other refinements in this update include speedier animations when opening and closing apps, giving the interface a more responsive feel. This ties into ongoing adjustments to the “Liquid Glass” design language Apple introduced with iOS 26. The visual style continues to evolve, with improved readability in some areas and enhanced “glass” effects in others. Notably, there’s now a subtle color dispersion effect when navigating between tabs using the magnifying glass-like selector, and the Lock Screen plus various toggles now incorporate Liquid Glass elements.
Another visible change is the updated onboarding process that appears after installation. This guided introduction highlights major features like the redesigned app interfaces, the new icon styles—both dark and clear—and the latest visual tweaks.
As is typical with beta releases, this version includes bug fixes, though testers may still encounter occasional glitches. Feedback so far suggests that iOS 26 beta 6 feels more stable and noticeably faster than earlier builds, indicating that Apple is moving into the polishing phase before the official launch.
With the developer beta now live, public beta testers should expect to receive their own update in the near future.
