MeBeMe Wants to Replace Mindless Scrolling With Positive Daily Habits

As concerns about excessive screen time and social media addiction continue to grow, a new mobile app called MeBeMe is taking a refreshing approach. Instead of blocking access to social media or limiting phone usage, the app encourages users to spend a few minutes each day building habits that align with the kind of person they aspire to become.

Unlike traditional digital wellness apps that rely on restrictions, MeBeMe focuses on motivation. It gently interrupts endless scrolling by suggesting short, meaningful activities that help users develop new skills, healthier routines, and more intentional lifestyles.

A Different Way to Break the Scrolling Habit

Many productivity and focus apps try to reduce screen time by locking distracting apps or enforcing strict usage limits. MeBeMe takes a much softer approach.

Rather than preventing users from opening social media, the app sends brief “missions” throughout the day. These challenges are designed to encourage real-world actions that support personal growth, making it easier to replace passive scrolling with productive habits.

The idea is simple: small, consistent actions performed regularly can gradually shape long-term behavior.

    Build the Identity You Want

When setting up the app, users begin by selecting one or more identities they would like to develop.

For example, someone who wants to become a lifelong learner may receive a suggestion to spend a few minutes watching an educational video or reading about a new topic. A user interested in becoming a classics reader could be encouraged to attend a local literature discussion or explore classic books.

Instead of focusing solely on productivity, MeBeMe encourages users to think about who they want to become and offers activities that reinforce those goals.

More Than 75 Personal Growth Paths

The app includes over 75 different identities, covering a wide range of interests and lifestyles.

    Categories include:

    • Mind: Scientist, historian, mathematician, chess player, and lifelong learner.
    • Body: Runner, cyclist, athlete, dancer, and other fitness-focused roles.
    • Relationships: Habits designed to strengthen personal connections.
    • Home & Lifestyle: Cooking, gardening, and similar everyday interests.

Users aren’t limited to choosing just one identity. Multiple goals can be combined, allowing people to work on several areas of self-improvement at the same time.

Flexible Reminders That Fit Your Routine

MeBeMe allows users to customize how frequently they receive motivational prompts. Notifications can arrive every day or only occasionally, depending on personal preference.

One standout feature, called “Break Your Scroll,” integrates with Siri, allowing reminders to be read aloud as an additional nudge to step away from endless scrolling.

    Privacy Comes First

Created by developer Eric Wolfram, the app originally began as a personal project for his son before evolving into a tool the entire family found useful.

Privacy is one of MeBeMe’s biggest selling points. The app does not require users to create an account, keeps all personal information stored locally on the device, and allows anonymous usage sharing to be disabled completely.

Currently available as a free download for iPhone, MeBeMe contains no advertisements or subscription fees, while an Android version is expected to arrive in the near future.
